Pet Dental Health Month - What are the signs of dental disease in pets

With February right around the corner, we’re celebrating Pet Dental Health month early here at Trinity Animal Hospital. Did you know that your pet’s dental health is JUST as important as dental health is to a human? Yes, it’s true! This is why we recommend that your pet’s teeth should be checked at least once per year by a veterinarian. That check up allows us to detect early signs of a problem and by doing it once per year, we’re ensuring that your pet’s mouth is healthy.

There are a few different signs that a pet is experiencing periodontal disease. If gum disease is left untreated, it is painful to your pets mouth and can also lead to a chronic infection in the oral cavity. This infection can spread bacteria to the bloodstream and affect the heart, liver, and kidneys.
